Online Safety and Digital Citizenship

Online Safety and Digital Citizenship

Online Safety and Digital Citizenship are an important part of keeping children safe at GEMS Winchester School Fujairah. We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any online incidents are recorded and managed. Online Safety and Digital Citizenship are taught to all pupils, explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.

We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the Online Safety and Digital Citizenship message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

 Learner Agency in Online Safety

Our learners lead the way. This video was produced by our secondary learners for their upper primary peers. Online Safety and Digital Citizenship are an area of community responsibility, and we encourage everyone to reinforce that message.

Family Media Agreement

A healthy media diet balances three things: what children do, how much time they spend doing it, and whether their content choices are age-appropriate. Mixing media and tech time with other activities will help families find that happy medium. Use the Common Sense Media Family Media Agreement and Device Contract to set realistic rules that make sense for your family so you and your children can make the most out of media and tech time.
